Review of JTS Champion 4.3GB
from the February 1998 issue of Windows Magazine

JTS Champion C4300-3AF
Although the JTS Champion C4300-3AF drive is the least expensive unit
on a cost-per-megabyte basis, speed is its downfall. It's a slug, despite its 512KB cache and 5,400rpm rotation speed. The 4.3GB (nominal) drive uses PRML technology and a Fast ATA-3 EIDE interface. Perhaps in order to distinguish itself, the company promotes the drive as Intel MMX multimedia ready-yet all drives are so endowed. Although JTS sells more of its products to OEMs than directly to users, the company includes a copy of Ontrack Disk Manager 8.01 to help you install the new drive. But for the same money, there are much faster drives than this one. You'll be better served by a 4GB drive from Western Digital or Fujitsu.

JTS Champion C4300-3AF

Bottom Line: Low price but sluggish performance
Price: $175
Pros: Easy installation
Cons: Slow performer
Strongest Rival: Maxtor DiamondMax 2160
