Worswick, it's funny how my mood can swing quickly on SEA these days: Your cheery post put my optimism in a "deflationary" state again <g>. It seems like we, the Asia Forum, are very good in citing all sorts of evidence how bad things are, the news are full of it, just no land in sight, it would seem.
But how will we get out of the mess again? Is there really no other way than hoping for the best and giving it time to work out, you know, credit crunches and stuff?
Anyone correct me, but politically, apart from S.Korea, no changes in power constellations in the various countries have occured. Or was there?
Just an idea: Does anybody know if there are steadycams that look down on metro cities in SEA and can be seen on the Internet? I'd really like to see how the streets of Bangkok or KL look these days: More crowds, less crowds, beggars? No more Mercedes? We here in Switzerland have no channel committed to Asia. I noticed that CNBC has a daily Asia feature show. Saw it in Spain.
Barton better be wrong on HK and the Nikkei... He updates his comments weekly.
Thanks for your post anyway :-), see you, Thomas. |
