>>I flew with my cats to the PNW<<

Were you able to bring them into the cabin with you?

Many ears ago, when I moved to the PNW, I had my neighbors care for my two cats (road trip cat was later) for a week while I drove across the country and waited for the movers to arrive (2 days late) then once I had my furniture they put my cats on a plane for me. They flew cargo and arrived freakishly calm. Turned out they were just a bit dehydrated. I didn't see them for about 2 days after I brought them home which is fairly normal for cats being introduced to a new environment, I suppose. They both lived a very long life (19) and loved the PNW.

I had a very different experience with my Siberian Husky. It took hours just sitting on the tarmac - in the heat of the sun - after the plane landed for them to bring her into the airport and she was stressed out of her mind. I could see her from the window but they wouldn't allow me to go to her. They said it was policy that they had to bring her in. Hours! All that heat, all that tarmac noise. Awful. I admit that I lost my temper a bit. She went berserk in her crate when they finally brought her to me and with her being silver people thought she was a wolf and kind of rushed at her to ooh and ah, even though I asked them to please leave her alone, when I removed her to let her pee. It was a horrible time and I don't think she ever got over it. She also lived a long life but hated the PNW.

Both these events happened over 30 years ago so things might have changed but I will never put a pet on a plane again unless they can come into the cabin with me.
