Keep in mind that when the CDMA chips start shipping later this year, it will broaden VLSI's customer base, as Ericsson does not use IS-95 CDMA, and is a bitter enemy of Qualcomm (IS-95 originator). VLSI will face very few competitors if they can get the two chip set out soon.

The current battle over third generation cellular in Europe is also a Win/Win situation for VLSI. W-CDMA is Ericsson's baby, so that would be great for VLSI. The CDMA/GSM composite would also be good for VLSI, since they are uniquely producing both technologies already. The decision by ETSI will be by the end of the month, and it looks like Ericsson is going to be chosen. Jim
