And the beat goes on: Disney is launching a direct-to-consumer service next year. That, Kagan suggests, is fueling rumors a Comcast streaming device. AT&T just recently outlined their forthcoming trio of direct-to-consumer streaming SVOD services, scheduled to launch in 2019.
The issue that will arise with content providers like Disney creating their own streaming services will be that they may pull content from services like Netflix and Hulu. Going to be interesting to see how this shakes out. I for one, don't intend to subscribe to multiple services in order to access their proprietary content. Outfits like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Hulu are creating a lot of good, original content and I'll stick with that.
