Facebook's secret documents seized by Parliament are published by MPs

Parliament has published internal Facebook documents that it seized as part of its "fake news" inquiry.

The documents - which includes internal emails sent by senior executives - were obtained from the chief of a software firm that is suing the tech giant.

Ted Kramer, the head of an app company Six4Three suing the social network, was last month ordered to hand over internal Facebook emails by Damian Collins, the chair of the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport committee.

A California court had ordered that the emails be kept secret as part of the ongoing lawsuit against the social network, but Mr Kramer claims he was given no choice when confronted at his London hotel room by Parliament’s Serjeant-at-Arms and threatened with imprisonment.

It comes after other documents from the same lawsuit revealed that Facebook had considered selling access to its users' data to large companies, despite a promise by Mark Zuckerberg never to do so.
