| | | Also posted on Nov. 4: Quick note about some churches around here... when we first arrived at our hotel we discovered a church across the street. The weekday mass schedule is at 5:00 am and 5:30 pm. I laughed. You’re not going to see me at 5:00 am mass! Next morning we awoke at 4:15, not yet adjusted to the new time zone. 5 minutes later the church bell rang, loud enough to awake everyone the hotel. We tried to snooze a few minutes, to no avail. I looked at her and asked “mình muon di le khg?” A few minutes later we were at the church, which was about half or 2/3 full
Again on Nov. 4: Some photo suggestions... motorbikes! If you can do it without a biker racing along and grabbing your camera then this one’s for you. We’ve seen bikers in suits, bikers wearing tattered clothes, bikers wearing ao dai, women in miniskirts riding side saddle. We’ve seen bikes carrying 2, 4, even 6 people. I saw a big mound of jackfruits, 3 times the size of the bike driving down the road, then noticed a head and arms sticking out. I have no idea how he secured the fruit, but if there’s a way to carry anything on a bike the Vietnamese have found it |
