True. We had a Siamese cat growing up, Tinker Bell. She got along with our long-time mutt pet, Schuyler. But quite a few years later, we got a small dog, a kind of dachshund mix, Sam. He tried his heart out to make friends with Tinker Bell, but she rebuffed him at every attempt. Each time, she would release a volley of swats at his nose, then Sam would go and hide under the couch with such a hurt look. He was never successful.

Sam finally got killed by a car. We found him then buried him in the back yard. We were all amazed and saddened that for a week after that or maybe longer, when we let Schuyler outside, he would go and lie down over top where Sam was buried.
