For what it is worth I bought the cheapest scanner that was available at Best Buy....it was a Plustek OpticPro 4830. I have had nothing but problems with it. I dont know if I want to spend the money to ship it back for repair because it will quit working 1 month latter.

I am interested in Photoshop for retouching old photos but I am pretty picky on printed image quality . I collect Rolleiflex 6x6 camera's and have a home dark room but the chemicals get to me. I get excited about digital photography's potential but lament the costs. I look forward to the day when I can get great results at an affordable cost. The Wall St. Journal did a piece on digital camera's the other day that was not to flattering.

I guess all I wanted to say was don't buy a Plustek, you'll be glad you didn't.

Regards,
Jeff Sheeran
