Jeff, well I can definitely recommend the IBM Color Flatbed scanner. There's no "model #" so perhaps it's the only IBM scanner you'll find at the computer stores. A word about parallel port vs. scsi...This IBM is parallel port, and I like it. Completely hassle-free setup...how fast can you unplug your printer, plug in the power/data cables of the scanner, and replug the printer cable into the pass-thru port? Plus, it doesn't take up an additional IRQ like a SCSI card does.

A friend of mine bought a cheaper UMAX scanner for $149 that was scsi..but it would not work with his existing scsi card that he had for his zip drive. So he was stuck using two scsi cards (and two IRQs) until he bought a new, more expensive SCSI card that would work with both Zip drive and scanner. It was a several-hour marathon trying to figure all this out...and my parallel port scanner is just as fast as his scsi if not faster for simply scanning 4"x6" photos. I suppose the scsi is faster on full-sheet scans, but what a hassle.
