*** Way, Way, Way off-topic *** (Even more than usual, Mike <g>)

Jim,

While I do need to lose weight, it was the part in the heart that is the 'natural' pacemaker that was the problem. In other words, it wasn't that my heart was working too hard, but, instead, it got too lazy (like the rest of me) and decided that after 46 years on the job, to take some short breaks of 5 to 15 seconds each. Unfortunately, the brain got jealous, and as the blood pressure went to 0 over 0, it shut down too. (I don't know why. I'm sure it has had more vacation time than the heart ever had!)

The heart would start back up by itself, then the brain would come back on-line. However, while I could response to questions and even walk to (and use) the bathroom, my awareness/memory did not come back until about 4-5 minutes after the episode. (Except for the 5 second one, when I did not pass out. I was in a hospital bed for that one. So, I only know of that one because the nurses rushed in to see if I was okay after the monitors at their station had me flatlining for those 5 seconds!)

No warning on any of them. This had happen once before Thanksgiving at work, but the doctors didn't find anything. Then on the 6th, it happen again at work. I'm very fortunate that it was there and not on the commute! Besides, the fire station, with the aid car, is just across the street! I had another episode in the ER, so they got to monitor that one and pin it down to the SA node ('pacemaker') in the heart. I got the implanted one the next day. It's internal near my right shoulder (I'm left handed, and they're place on the opposite side) with two wires running down a vein into my heart. They are connected by screwing in the ends into the heart wall!

Good luck on exercising off those 45 lbs. Even though it doesn't appear to be a contributing factor, I too would like to lose a similar amount.

I will have to say that, when I die, (hopefully, not for 40 - 50 years), this would not be a bad way to go. No pain whatsoever. Sort of like the joke of:
When I die, I hope to go like my grandfather, peacefully in his sleep. Not like the 3 others, screaming as the car he was driving went over the cliff!! <g>

I suppose I can do a little on topic <g>

Costco did do quite nice today and is back to the top of its range. Some stock money from the Asian scare (and lower prices on any imported goods C. sells)
should combine to help C. stock price. I don't expect any big run-up from it because its P/E is so high. But, I don't see why it can't keep trudging away into a new and higher trading range, say from 45 to 50. Hopefully, Xmas earnings will be good.

Mat
