Dwight how fast is that parallel connection? I don't know if someone that is use to a SCSI connection would be happy stepping down to a the parallel.

Also my HP scanner came with software which will allow you to use it without taking up an IRQ, I didn't set it up that way.

and my parallel port scanner is just as fast as his scsi if not faster for simply scanning 4"x6" photos. I suppose the scsi is faster on full-sheet scans, but what a hassle.

That's apples & oranges. You have to compare a parallel to a SCSI using the same brand of scanners. The data transfer rates are usually printed on the scanner packages.

My parallel Zip drive is the only drive not SCSI on my PC and it reminds me of my old 286 PC floppy drives. :o(
