You misunderstood me.

Down and out is different than a stinker. I was referring to companies that have consciously - knowingly - taken mediocre or bad science forward in the pursuit of money if not success.

I constantly scour the biotech universe for down and out companies that are backed by sound science, and make good profits from doing such. A good example is to be found in the Alteon thread, and in Rudy Saucillo's long-standing analysis and conviction.

Sometimes stinkers develop a new corporate culture. I was just saying that it doesn't happen often, and that one can spin a lot of wheels in efforts to find them.
