Elmer,

The reason why some one would follow this thread and to invest in AMD is a very easy one, and that one reason is to make money. Your certianly smart enough to realize there is more than one way to make money on a stock. Besides those speculating on a buy out, there is a possibility that AMD just might pull it off. No guts no glory, High risk High return. There are also people who are shorting the stock and those playing numerous bear and bull option strategies. In short there is more than one way to skin a cat. I have no loyality to a stock. I am holding AMD stock because I purchased it very cheap sold, sold 1/2 at over 315% profit and now can afford to sit on the rest and gamble for a home run or a take over. Personally I would like to see the home run because I dislike monopolies. Having competition has lowered the price on computers and there parts. Just look what competition has done for the computer market. We see price falling faster than ever and we have more powerful computers at a fraction of the cost.

Robert

PS I am still running a Pentium 100 desktop and Pentium 75 laptop and see no reason to upgrade yet. However my next purchase will be a cpu and it will be a K6 because of the performance for the dollar value the K6 is the clear winner.
