Speaking of law enforcement and Kim Dotcom, he was defended against the illegal attacks by the government at the behest of the USA government by a judge in a NZ court deciding on extradition and other legal proceedings against him. I was very pleased and relieved to see that NZ is not yet so far gone that totalitarian government thugs can ride totally roughshod over citizens. Unfortunately, unless one has connections or megabucks, they pretty much do tromp on anyone they fancy. nzherald.co.nz

That was Helen Winkelmann who found against the government. Now she has been announced as being the new Chief Justice in NZ who is the boss legal authority other than parliament.

She will be a popular appointment, I guess. I don't have anything against her though I know nearly nothing so shall reserve judgment. But for now she gets my approval for her decision on Kim Dotcom.

There are few big shots who I find are generally admirable. In their pursuit of big-shot status, not many are doing it just for fun and to do great things. I can think of Dr Irwin Jacobs. I cannot think of a more remarkable person. Which is not to say he got everything right. For example Globalstar was badly designed from a marketing point of view. But as CEO he of course entrusted employees to do the job and do it right.

Meanwhile, Malaysia's action is interesting.
