Re << I don't think they would (should) have split the stock >>

At the time IOM management made the decision to split, share prices were surging. It probably fit well into their model for the future of the company. Zip was accellerating, Jazz 2 had bright prospects, and click's product development cycle was about to begin. They probably expected IOM to be trading in the 30-35 range splitting down to 15 and then going up from there this year as their product line continues to mature.

They probably did not factor the asian meltdown into their forcasts. They probably figured like the rest of us that it really just helps our bottom line and the investment community will be intelligent enough to see that.

They probably did not forsee the extent to which the rest of the DD sector's problems would be attributed to them by association. I don't think any of us did either. We all know what a hot hand we have and as soon as that becomes apparant to the rest of the investment community on thursday I think we'll see them jumping back on the horse.

Time will tell IOM's story correctly, whether this week or next. At any rate, I don't think they decided to split because the company's outlook was dim. Surely you can forgive them for being as optimistic as we are about the future of the company.
