I dated a girl from Bronx. I can't say that I found the people there to be meaner than others, but more like having a taking the matters into their own hand kind of mentality. When I was young, I was the same (and came from similar neighborhood) so I related to Bronx without any issues. The thing is, that many people actually appreciated getting their punishment if they felt it was well deserved and well executed. And you sort of see that in one of the clips where the thieves are laughing at what happened to them. It all depends on how they see it - as getting what they deserved, or as getting publicly humiliated. And since he blocked out their faces, I don't see much chance of the latter.
