Derek,
I like both!! I hold a position in IOM but it is because I believe in thier products and use them. I was looking at a catalog the other day and they had a HP CDRW rewriteable CD for 429 and they throw in 25 recordable CD's!!! It is ATAPI so you do not need to install a SCSI card or you could get the external. here is the link for the specs on it.http://www.hp.com/storage/cdwriter/7110.html

The trasfer is kinda slow though but if you want to make your own music CD's and archive photo's that is the way to go. If you want to have portable large files then Zip is the way to go I have one at work and at home so it is a simple solution to moving files. For example I store all my downloads on a Zip and then I can install them when I want, and if the install is corrupt I can reinstall it, much better than having to download again. I can see a use for both CDRW and Zip. My brother got a cdrw that he uses for a digital camera, he stores images on cd and then takes them to the office or on the road with him, both places have a cd drive but no zip so it was the right solution for him. My other brother has a large family and the have a desktop and I recomended a Zip for him, each child has 1 disk that they can store on, homework, shareware, etc. Zip is faster then CDRW, CDRW can write once and play in any CD Player. Just my 2 cents.

Jeff
