What is the magic price?? G.Lite and PC manufacturers

According to the Boston Globe article, Jim Bender says that a G.Lite modem will cost about $300 and will be in name-brand PCs by Christmas. As much as I would love to believe that, I don't think it will happen.

$300 is too expensive for a peripheral to be broadly installed across major computer lines. For an example, the Jaz drive is really nice and really fills the ticket for graphics intensive workstations and sells for about $300. But I don't know of a single PC maker who offers it as a standard component. Although many PC makers do offer the Zip drive ($150) as standard equipment on their PCs.

Using this as an admittedly rough example, I would think that the price of a G.Lite modem would have to be under $200 before you would see wide-spread adoption of it by PC makers.

Welcome any further thoughts on this
