Amazon Prime Has More Movies Than Netflix & Hulu Combined - Cord Cutters News

cordcuttersnews.com

This week Reelgood, a site that tracks what is different about streaming services, gave us some insight into the top three: Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon. According to a story published in PC Magazine, Amazon has more movies than Netflix and Hulu combined.

According to the report, Amazon Prime Video has 12,764 movies. This towers over Hulu’s 1,646 movies and Netflix’s 3,861 movies. There is some overlap because seven movies are on all three services. Netflix has 277 of the same movies as Prime Video and Hulu has 530 of the same movies as Prime Video.

When it comes to TV shows Amazon Prime Video also has a slight lead. According to Reelgood, Prime Video has 2,077 TV shows compared to Netflix’s 1,686 and 1,891 TV shows on Hulu. Again, there is some overlap: 47 shows are on all three services. Netflix and Amazon share 109 TV shows. Hulu and Amazon have 245 of the same shows.

One of the main complaints against Amazon has been the lack of movies and TV shows on Prime. Yet the numbers show there is a lot of great programming there. It seems many are confused about the fact that Amazon mixes free with Prime content alongside movies and TV shows for sale. We often hear from new Prime members who are upset by the fact that they paid for Prime but the show they want costs extra.

After seeing the numbers from Reelgood, the question now seems to be how can Amazon better communicate what they offer.
