BTW - I have been a conservative for most of my life. I now consider myself apolitical. I cannot identify with either party and could not bring myself to vote for either HRC and DT in 2016. I believe making policy decisions based on untruths, incomplete information, personal biases or "gut feelings" is a recipe for disaster.

Over the years I've come to the realization that Identifying with a political group will amplify personal biases to the point where party decisions and policies will tilt towards the power and survival of the party at a cost of doing what's best for the overall population and country...that applies to both political parties/ideologies IMO.

I have become a skeptic and do not trust my gut reactions. I am a firm believer in research and fact checking before committing myself to believing a purported fact or truth.
