Jim,

I don't know really all of the mechanics. But I believe they were just two, very flexible (to twist thru the vein to the heart) yet strong enough to not bunch up into a ball once the heart wall was hit. And as I understand it, the doc just had to rotate each wire to screw it into the wall of the heart. I wish I could have seen the screen he was watching to move it along. I'm just glad he didn't say 'Whoops' at any time during the operation! <g> Maybe I'll do a net search to see if there is a do-it-yourself pacemaker install site out there somewhere. It almost would not surprise me if there was!

Mat

And to all of you lurkers wondering where has the Costco news gone lately, well, I even went to the Costco site. And the most exciting thing happening is that they now have olive oil from the Tuscany region of Italy. I wonder how much the lira has plunged against the dollar?
