The RT television channel Russia Today has sent out hundreds of chocolate models of the Salisbury Cathedral as gifts to commemorate the Novichok nerve agent attacks in Salisbury carried out by GRU agents Anatoliy Chepiga and Alexander Mishkin.

The nerve weapon attack poisoned Sergei Skripal, his daughter Yulia, Detective Sergeant Nick Bailey, Charlie Rowley, and killed Rowley's partner Dawn Sturgess.

Salisbury MP John Glen said: "This gift from RT is bizarre behaviour but to be expected from such evil people." Another Salisbury councillor Jo Broom added, "It's very regrettable that somebody would see fit to do something like this, and is quite disrespectful to those that were caught up in the incident."

Detective Sergeant Nick Bailey said in an interview, "It's taken longer to deal with the nerve weapon attack because of everything that has happened to us. Not only did we lose the house, we lost all of our possessions, including everything the kids owned, we lost all that, the cars."

One recipient Russian TV Channel Dozhd thanked RT for the gift on a live TV news show but added: "Come for tea, we're afraid to eat it alone."
