As usual for most companies, stock options are given away by companies to the chosen few who exercise them when vested. MRVL is no exception.
Still a lot more sellers than buyers

Here is a chart that shows the insider stock option activity for 2018. Lots of option exercises and sales throughout the year, but not outright buys until a few days ago. The 2 buys were for a total of 12,500 shares. In early July a huge number of options were awarded(light green - over 5,000,000). The remaining activity was for exercise of options and insider sales.
