Hi, . . . no, my car isn't broken, but it sounds like it should be. <g> I've been trying to set up a hitch-hiking story at Tis, but just can't find the energy to write the shorty. I told Carol the other day I was going to hike to the library today, and usually the first thing which comes to mind is being on some desolet stretch of no-where wondering who is going to trust that my only intention is just to get somewhere. When I think of the word "hike", hence, thumbing. It was fun, but I'm sore in the upper thigh area of both legs. That last 100+ yard trek up a 45 degree hill which levels to 30 degrees and then an even grade is a chore. This takes you from the downtown area to the upper part of town along the main hiway.

I stopped in several of the boutique art shops on the way back. You know stained glass work must be getting more popular. I saw more pieces than I've seen in the last 10 years. One shop had two very neat looking pieces. The artist incorporated copper into the glass work itself, making it look as though you were also looking through trees. It had a black 2 1/2 black glass border with a 1/12 x 2 1/2 inch piece of peach colored glass directly in the middle of each bordered side (does that make any sense?). Also seems to be a lot of using small broken bits of glass to create borders for things like picture frames and such. I had never seen this before.

I hit all of the ones I usually like to visit and a couple I'd never been to. One of the shops features Michael Parks stone lithos. I love looking at his work. I would describe it as (in case you're not familiar with his work) tasteful, futuristic porn fantasy. It is not porn in the way I would normally think but uses the woman's upper torso in most of his works. I think they're really neat to look at. And looking is all I can afford when the shop I was at was asking $3500 to $4000 for a framed piece. Oh how I wish, but which one!
