(More detailed 2018 data to come.)

Attention Biotechies: Only a few more hours left to submit your portfolio to the 2019 Biotech Charity Contest!
The Contest submission deadline is Tonight, Tuesday, 1/1/2018, Midnight, PST. Here’s the link to the 2019 Biotech Charity Contest board:
Subject 60008

At the 12/31/18 close, for the year: the Contest median was down -21.22%, the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was down -9.32%, the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI) was down -15.11%, while the Nasdaq Composite Index (IXIC) was down -3.88%.

THID’s portfolio, up 38.94%, took the Contest crown, with SPTAD’s portfolio, up 26.89% for the year in second place and POMP’s portfolio, up 24.18% for the year, in third place.

THID’s chosen charity is the Methuselah Foundation. The Foundation website states it is a 501(C)(3) organization, making donations tax deductible. Here’s the website link: mfoundation.org
In past Contests, some contestants have also donated to a charity of my choice. Of course, such donation is entirely optional. My chosen charity continues to be the East Bay College Fund. Here’s the link: eastbaycollegefund.org

At the 12/31/18 close, 10 of the 62 Contest portfolios were in the green, with 16 beating the NBI and 23 beating the SPSIBI.
The 230 Contest stock picks had an average loss for the year of -21.06% and a median YTD loss of -35.92%, with just 58 showing a gain for the year.
Below is the Top Ten list for the year. Also below are the Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks for the year ranked by % Gained and % Lost. (Prices not converted to US$ in these Tables.)
Portfolio adjustments: CATB did a 1-10 reverse split on 12/31/18.
(All corrections greatly appreciated.)
Best wishes for a better 2019 for your Contest & real life portfolios, biotechies!
Peace & good health,
Bulba
