Obama was brought into any discussion in late 2008 as is usually the case when a President-elect is soon to be in the White House, as was the case with Obama, who would be entering the White House in late January 2009.
As a Lawyer, I very much doubt that Obama would have much to offer in terms of that Level of a Fiscal Crisis. He was, and still is, very much a "Talker" and not "a Man of Action and a Do-er" as is the 45th President of the USA.
I would agree with your assessment of BOTH Bush and Blair. They were both WAR MONGERS. They didn't have to go into Iraq based on the LIES that they acted on. Saddam Hussein may have been a tyrant but there are other ways to deal with tyrants as Donald Trump has shown with that North Korean tyrant.
Similarly with Gaddafi ... One must remember that in certain parts of the world it is VERY TRIBAL. And it takes a strong, sometimes ruthless individual to keep tribal leaders in their place and under control and to ensure that they don't get at each other's throats. Most Western Democracies have little, if any, understanding or appreciation when it comes to the complexities of Tribes and Tribal Systems and Cultures. This is foreign to them.
When Gaddafi was in charge one could quite safely travel and tour around Libya. A colleague of mine went there several times during that period and he travelled extensively in Libya. In addition Gaddafi was doing business with the West. Once Gaddafi was "eliminated" all hell broke loose, and today you take your life in your hands if you set foot in Libya !!
And you talk about it being "Ok" to have gone into Afghanistan. Well, the US has had a presence there for over 16 years !! And what has that achieved ?? If the US left tomorrow one would never know that they had been there for 16 years. What would the US have left behind ?
And folk mustn't say to me that the US had to go int Afghanistan because that's where Bin Laden went. Jeez ... when they finally killed that piece of shit he was watching TV in a house JUST DOWN THE ROAD FROM A PAKISTANI MILITARY BASE !!! So much for having Pakistan as an Ally .... AND ON TOP OF IT, THE USA WAS PROVIDING PAKISTAN WITH ALL MANNER OF MILITARY AND FOREIGN AID !!
I'm with Trump went it comes to not wanting the US to get embroiled in Foreign Wars in other parts of the world, UNLESS America, ITSELF, is severely threatened in some way.
America pumps enough billions of dollars into many parts of the world in terms of "Foreign Aid". So why is it that nothing constructive gets achieved, by the local leadership, of most of these countries ?
Why aren't their education levels among the general population much higher ?
Why is it that their infrastructure isn't generally adequate to promote and support trade and local industrial or agricultural output ?
Why is it that so many of those countries have their own populace wanting to flee their homelands, at great personal risk, to other parts of the world, such as Europe and the USA ?
WHAT THE HELL DID THEY DO WITH ALL THAT FOREIGN AID OVER SO MANY YEARS ???!!!
And with regard to Obama again ... the man is a Socialist by nature and design .... It's all about taking money from the populace in terms of their taxes and providing a lot of "Free Stuff" which can prove popular at election time. THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THAT "THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A FREE LUNCH". These Socialist types don't realize that you have to have a thriving healthy economy that is doing good trade with the outside world, etc.., and earning foreign exchange, and building up local businesses, which, in turn provide more local jobs. And when your economy is thriving then businesses make greater profits and thereby pay more in taxes. And when business is thriving then more of the populace are WORKING, and thereby the government obtains more in local taxes from the employed.
And it's only through Taxes that a government can spend money in a fruitful way. BUT, if there is not a sufficient tax base, due to a poor business and economic environment, then A COUNTRY HAS TO BORROW MONEY !! Which is what happened in Obama's time when he nearly DOUBLED AMERICA'S DEBT !!!
And that is so typical of SOCIALISM.
Why do you think that China has the greatest amount of US Bonds ? America is in great financial debt to China as a result of China's Bond Holding. But I suspect that will change under Trump ....
In my personal opinion, and no doubt contrary to Extreme Left Wingers and the 17 Morons on my Ignore List, America should be extremely thankful that at last they have a President who actually wants what is best for 300+ million Americans, and not for that ELITE CLIQUE that populates the likes of Washington and who are generally in the pockets of Big Business and Globalists and that includes Democrats and a certain number of Republicans as well ..... Fortunately Donald Trump can see the wood for the trees in many regards ....
