Hi Norman:

<$300 is too expensive for a peripheral to be broadly installed across major computer lines.>
I generally agree with it. Currently 56K modems for laptops are selling at about $150, and started at $ 300. I think 300 is the initial price, but as it moves from a new tech toy to mass level peripheral, my guess is that price can be expected to drop to about 100. So initially, a large number of small businesses (particulalry the one using ISDN), business PCs (laptops) and high-end home machines as well as avid net surfers will be the focus. I think that was always the focus group
for new high end technology.

But mass implementation will take more than few years. Following is an article voicing the same time-frame.
