RE: "The new found security blanket (marking to market "low cost" real estate) of 4 to 6 trillion yen, will barely cover their toes."

1. I've heard something about the new policy of "marking to market low cost real estate," but I don't really know what it is. I understand that real estate prices have plummeted, but don't understand the marking to market concept. If you please, could you explain what is really going on with this policy?

2. Do you think that the Nikkei has put in a "major triple bottom" the last few years? I believe that the market first fell from 39,000 to just under 14,000 a few years ago. Then it rallied and fell back to just over 14,000?? Now, again it "passed" the test of the 14,000 low. What do you think?

Thanks,

I2
