Joon, This is something I've also been thinking about and believe is a very real possibility. The timing of such a move would be correct IMO due to:

1) Keeping with the plan to get Zip down to that $99 entry price point to attract even more new customers and expand the base. The more users out there, the bigger the compatibility issue becomes, and thus the bigger the barrier to competitors.

2) Putting additional pricing pressure on existing and potential competition such as HiFD. Moves like this will hopefully stir things up a little with the folks at Sony.

3) Taking advantage of what is likely to be a blockbuster quarter by taking the charge now vs later when quarter over quarter growth will likely be lower. This also allows for a more consistent earnings growth rate.

4) If Iomega is capable of cutting the price now, I think they should. I believe they're better off in the long run because of the resulting increase in disk sales where the money is.

Regards - Dale
