[1/16/98 Volpe Brown Ups CheckFree To Strong Buy From Buy]

Although the above announcement didn't come through until after the close on Friday, it came as no suprise to those of us watching the Nasdaq Level II market makers screen. Volpe was very active in the trading of this stock and most likely a key player in the early selloff lows followed by the subsequent strong and impressive reversal that we all witnessed. The incredible velocity of both price and volume (once it was clear that a reversal was intact) was indeed a sight to behold and bears evidence of a strong rally that has only just begun. It's seemingly apparent that someone in the Volpe camp has big plans (to the upside) for this puppy! I'm looking for a solid cross above the the $24 level with increasing volume in the coming week.
