| | | Their demo car as of last year's CES didn't have the speed to compete, imo, in larger format windows-- the size of a sunroof or even a sunvisor. But they have definitely made progress on speed and darkness. maybe they'll have a real time video for the rinspeed snap 2 or their sunroof demo.
I think the world is readier and readier for switchable glazings, there's room for a bunch of tech, so long as they have different performance specs. BUt if we get to a time, when EC is cheaper, faster, better range etc, it's game over for SPD. Thus far, no EC has the speed on large format. Also, GNTX new is faster, but that's still minutes (I think)vs SPD's second or two.
They had an in at Boeing. It was already type certified etc etc.
fwiw, Joe has said that beoing went through hell getting the GNTX edw type certified, and maybe they just didn't want to go through it again for an option.
The only positive might be the second major plane uses EDW at the OEM level, but it kind of like the old 'place holder' comments out of RFI.
Don;t label me an ND go go rah rah type. I agree that this is a miss. |
