Interesting point on Ascend's product. I wonder moving forward what % of ISDN use is projected for non-internet endpoints.

ISDN over ADSL sounds promising, but to me the question (for adsl mux invesment purposes) is what's the first approach to see big revenues:
A) Tightly-focused ADSL-for-internet-access offerings, near term (1997) by aggressive ISPs, taking advantage of access to a LEC copper plant and CO. This would mean basic adsl access muxes will win, with few frills, low cost and a simple uplink ATM OC3 or NxDS1/DS3 to an upstream router.
B) Better thought-out offerings that can provide more services (such as ISDN calls, QOS, video, etc). These require a smarter, more expensive adsl mux that supports these features. Telcos of some flavor would probably be the ones to roll this out (they're in a better position to charge for ISDN and the other services). And this would take longer, probably 1998 or 1999.

I don't necessarily think A will win, but I think ISPs are more narrowly focused on providing big IP pipes sooner, so if there's a solution that works for them and is cheaper, I want to be on top of it.
