REal Estate seems to be a bit of a sideline even though their projects are huge. Here in Arizona they are the owners of MCO, the company that has developed Fountain Hills. They seem to have ticked off everyone in Fountain Hills and now are getting a lot of grief, warranted and unwarranted, for anything they try to do.

Their people here are required to run everything through Texas and as a result, things move very slowly. We recently had a number of odds and ends to settle ... net ... a couple of hundred dollars due us ... required a five page legal document from Texas to close this mountainous deal. I can not imagine what that legalese added to the transaction cost of this item.

Maybe all big companies work this way, but it is hard to see how they make money doing things that way. If I owned the whole company I would cut the locals loose to make some decisions on their own.
