This is for Haim or Tobago or for anyone or two or seven of you knowledgeable folks ........

who has/have a sound understanding of, and a background in, this area. My work is very different and I have never had the opportunity to develop a sound understanding of such things. Hence I ask in a simple way, because I always try to remind myself that half-knowledge is dangerous.

This is not front-cover news anywhere, but I see here and there the talk about national debt and its consequences. Can someone here explain or discuss it in a simple, constructive way, or point to a reliable source for understanding such things?

For example, Kyle Bass goes on about shorting the yuan because he expects "a China reset". So what really is the situation concerning China's debt and this "expected" reset? Why is Kyle Bass, and now recently also Larry Summers hitting on this "oh we really worry" about China? And what is the consequence?

Similarly, I see today this little article saying Powell is "worried" about the 21 trillion in US debt.

yahoo.com

I don't know China's debt numbers, but I know that 21 trillion is a big number. What happens in both cases? How do both parties get out of this mess? What happens if they don't?

Can someone shed some light on this, and am I the only clueless person here?

Thanks,

Joseph :)
