Scrapps, now there is CDRW (CD Recordable Writeable) you can record many times on the same disk but it only writes at about 350 k a sec. so it is not blazing fast for back up but it makes recordable cd's a lot more interesting to me. The rewriteable disks do cost a bit more though, but heck if they are giving away 25 with the drive that sure knocks a lot off the cost. I saw Norton Utilities the other day that is the Zip bootable version, if I am correct on this I believe it creates its " rescue disk" files to the zip drive now. And Micron started making Zip its "A" drive in the boxes it ships now.

I was checking out DVD drives for the computer too but came to the conclusion that there wasn't a lot to do with one at this time. FWIW I think PC's make lousy televisions and I'd rather buy one for the Television, it would come with a remote that way. I have not seen one software title on DVD yet so I don't want to be a first generation adopter. When I ordered my PC I put that money into better speakers.

If you are considering a Gateway or a Dell I am Familiar with all the Speakers and Monitors on the Dell, the family has ordered 5 in the last 3 months so I have seen many configurations. The Altec 495 Speakers are really quite nice and the Boston Acoustic Speakers that came with my Gateway have made it my default stereo because they sound so good! I am really blown away by the multi media PC's out there right now. I am sure what ever system you get you will be thrilled with.

Regards,
Jeff
