Not many people are mathematically literate, so the words parabolic, exponential, hyperbolic hyperbole and asymptotic won't mean much to them other than something big going on even if the situation started slowly.

While the first 3 are passably descriptive of the functioning phase, the last describes what matters which is the asymptote. Unfortunately, the monetary asymptote is zero rather than a sensible number somewhere or other in the realm of remaining value.

Zero is never a number that's a lot of fun visiting in financial relativity theory, especially if monetary velocity is nearing the speed of light when the mass of money approaches infinity such as the umpty$trillion Zimbabwe bank note.

Which comes first? The chicken or the egg? I say the first failure is of Virtuous Victorian Values following which there is general debilitation, with monetary and political authorities trying to paper over the cracks with increasing amounts of new bank notes. The monetary mayhem is a symptom rather than the cause.
