<<The valuations people are putting on DLT are absurd.>>
I challenge you to show me any proprietary, presently unchallenged, high growth computer hardware which trades at the low valuations you suggest. Even highly competitve areas with high gross margins which I would consider at imminent risk have no trouble trading at far higher p/e multiples. It could well be beyond 2000 before there is any competition. Giving birth to high end tape products has never been easy or on time in my experience. Why isn't IBM trying to do it themselves? Surely SEG has little technical expertise to add. Lastly, the market DLT reaches is huge and growing. They don't need the desktop. Upward migration is much more likely in conjunction with libraries. Lastly, lets let the markets decide an appropriate multiple since there are no real synergies between tape and disk.
