Call me overly optimistic, but I think those time-frames are far too conservative. I don't have any evidence to substantiate these beliefs but my strong gut feeling is that xDSL is a technology that will suddenly pop onto the scene. I see it being rapidly deployed and everyone having to run to accomodate it. Much as the WWW suddenly popped onto the scene.

I know that we have been waiting for two years and it is now a year late. But IMHO that has only caused the pressure to continue to build for just this type of technology. Online commerce is now a major revenue source for many businesses and not just a temporary fad. Even more importantly, the whole software industry has an unsatiable appetite for bandwidth require to drive new applications.

Anyway, these thoughts have heavily influenced my investing approach (currently to my detriment). But hopefully in the long-run things will even out.
