Socially, traffic death is not dramatic enough to capture the imagination, so pointless as a political rallying point unless of a particular bad corner in some neighbourhood and stirring the neighbourhood

Personally, folks mostly believe they themselves can actively preclude the traffic death of self. Passenger on plane must blame someone else should plane trip run into accident. I see a difference, and a big one, between choosing to drive then crashing the car vs having to fly and be hijacked because some jerk able to pack a weapon and some law enforcer didn’t do his job.

Besides, planes dropping out of the sky due to mostly preventable causes on the ground would indicate drama, believes the political class, I suspect.
