All in all, though, Trump should stick to his guns until he gets what he wants.
Trump has nothing to lose and everything to gain. Everyone* hates Trump anyway, so he's risking very little by prolonging the government shutdown.

The Democrats have more to lose from the shutdown. Their constituents are much more dependent on big government functioning than the Trump-supporting alt-right. Eventually they'll cave and give Trump what he wants, which is funding for the wall.

Personally I'm against the wall, but I also think the Dems should just give Trump what he wants. They can always tear down the wall when they regain the White House. Sure, it's a waste of money, but the Dems believe that even wasteful spending is "stimulus."
