Thanks Iso, My first consideration was also location. Population density consideration naturally arises out of that. Latitude/altitude. I also considered future freedom of movement since a migration from the North is going to impact that aspect for many locations. Also I'm not going to remove myself to anything considered "remote". Access to a demographic of people who are not idiots. Access to a healthcare knowledgeable/capable percentile demographic. There's the New Madrid to consider so that rules out proximity to that and also anywhere East of it. Water availability - reservoirs, nearby rivers (fishing) nearby aquifers untainted by fracking, local restrictions on wells on the property. Flood map assurance. Good bang-for-the-buck real estate pricing. The above has narrowed down my search to where I have a handful of very small-town candidates for specific site location with one in particular and another that runs a very close 2nd. 6 weeks to begin arranging purchase...so don't buy what I've found before that...lol. I'm set to go March 29 (settlement on current residence) and will have a place mortgage and otherwise debt-free. Then the fun begins with a not unreasonably long checklist/schedule of setting up preps allowing for 2 more years of grid viability. All my systems will have back-ups and all the back-ups will have back-ups.
