You seem to have your plan in place and be executing it to your satisfaction which is all that matters. Reviewing in my mind what we've done to establish greater self sufficiency since we bot this place in 2008? Had to face the reality that my limited posting time doesn't even cover a fraction of what's needed to share that with you guys. But will read the thread and stop by from time to time. Keep up the good work!! One thing that won't take much time are a few photos which show the infrastructure and some of what we've done: One below shows contractor's crew completing our new metal roof. To the right is separate two level building. Garage & adjacent workshop on upper level. Lawn and garden equipment storage and harvest area on lower level. Greenhouse is slightly lower and to the right with corner of our garden in the foreground. Small orchard is out of view to the right. Front view of house. Ornamental Garden with water course between house and 2 level detached building was created by the prior owners. Portion of stream about 200' from the house forms border between rear lawn and the, wooded, hilly portion of the acreage. Grandson helping me mow the 3 acre lawn. Hen house for the Charlie, our guinea roster. Gets rid of a lot of the ground level bugs in the garden. Several types of wild birds take care of the flying insects. Natural balance so effective we don't even need a bug zapper. Anyway, garden in immediate background. Orchard behind that. And neighbor's house in the distance. Nice family. CPA who taught at a nearby college. but now works for the county. His wife teaches Elementary School.
