Apple (AAPL.O) Q1 Europe sales up 47 pct-report

MUNICH, Germany, Jan 18 (Reuters) - Apple Computer Inc's
(AAPL.O) European sales climbed 47 percent to $415 million in its fiscal first quarter ended December 26, Apple Germany manager Peter Dewald was quoted as saying in a computer magazine.

MacWelt magazine said the main reason for the strong growth was the
success of Apple's Power Macintosh G3 computers.

It quoted Dewald as saying that while the second quarter was not
expected to see worldwide sales growth, growth would return in the third and fourth quarters.

The following fiscal year would see further growth in sales, he told the magazine.

Apple on Wednesday reported a profit of $47 million for the first quarter, with revenues of $1.6 billion.
