Noticed in the same TechWeb edition, the following:

Sharp and Semiconductor Energy Labs may have pulled a rabbit out of a
hat. Then again, they may not have. The two Japanese firms say they've
developed a way to create continuous grain silicon (CGS) on glass substrate with a crystal structure that delivers far faster electron mobility than can be done with amorphous or polysilicon thin-film transistors. This past week Sharp demo'ed a 60-inch projection video system using the new CGS transistors that were 4-times faster than the fastest driver ICs on the market. EE Times' David Lammers called the TV output "stunning." The two firms expect CGS-based projection TVs to come to market as soon as next year, but that it may take years before process kinks can be ironed out and costs reduced so that CGS-based displays can go into notebook computers and other products.
