I still find this kind of statement bizarre:
"There is no question that China will eventually become the best in the world,"
said Bain & Company partner of Belo.

Why? Why is there "no question" about this? People used to say things like that about the USSR too, but the truth is, economies that are so tightly controlled won't develop properly. It is typical that a partner at Bain would say that--they are rolling in money that they get from being PE vultures. They pretend that they are capitalists, they are all for low taxes and sparse regulation so that they can go in and take over companies, take on large amounts of debt, gradually transferring the company's assets to themselves in the form of "special dividends", don't properly invest in them, bitterly complain when they are held to environmental and good labor standards, and then they express shock when the company is riddled with debt and goes under. These people are the ultimate parasites that they condemn government as being. And of course when their representatives control government, they become parasites too. Bain may take Toshiba down too if the Japanese government and the Toshiba board allows them to.

Repulsive.
