I think I'm quite optimistic too. I was listening to the analyst Q&A which followed Intel's Q4 report on the WEB last night. When asked about the SE Asian effect, Intel management replied that softness in some areas were offset by strength in China and India.

When you add the strength in Europe and USA to the equation it starts looking much better. So far the Q4 reports in the big names such as Intel, Sun and even Apple seem to indicate minimal impact from the SE Asian crisis but the market seems to reject some of the good news, implying the impact might not be fully realized in the Q4 reports. If we get similar Q1 reports, the market might start reacting better and most of the fears will be behind us by then.

Thanks for the article. I hope the "soft landing" buzzword takes off and starts soothing some fears out there.

Shahen Petrosian.
