"Alexa, let me see if I understand this fully...

<<Of course I don't see children as property, so parental rights aren't all that strong, in my
opinion.>>

You believe that property rights are stronger than parental rights?

You may be right here legally, I'm not really sure. Can you give me some court cases which
support this idea? I'm not saying your wrong. It just gives me a chill to think about it.

I think it would be an interesting exploration.

Does the State have more rights over our children than over our homes or business's? My
instinct tells me they don't."

Michael this is an argument you make with your questions. Your instincts are wrong. The state is a protector of CIVIL rights, which includes the rights of children. So the state does have more of an interest in our children than in property, but I woulddn't say the state has "rights over our children." Rather, they must be the protectors of children who have no protection. Do they do an adequate job? No. Is there a better way? I have no idea. All I know is that kids are abused everyday, and I think their right NOT to be abused supercedes their parent's rights to parent.
