I haven't tried the Alpha Software, but the one we have been using was unable to detect Antiexe and one of the CAP viruses. We were using the December 1997 virus data upgrade, so were most dissapointed that we were infected.

One of our shareholders detected the CAP virus with a January version of Norton on a document that I emailed to him. After rescanning the 30 some machines in our office, file and print servers, we still could not pick them up. I downloaded the Norton Antivirus program from:

symantec.com

It was easy to install, caught all the ones that the other program missed and some the other supposedly cleaned (but remained as damaged files). I was able to scan all the other servers from a single station. It also has a live update capability over the internet.

I downloaded the 30 day evaluation, but won't wait the 30 days to buy.
