js, Chambers discussed this in his Comdex speech. The savings come from handling (or lack thereof), happier customers and sales people who manage accounts rather than simply process orders. But it wasn't just sales - we point out that electronicly handled case work on support leverages our people significantly (actual percentages are unknown to me - but were mentioned by Chambers).
